About the MS.406
The Morane-Saulnier MS.406 was France's principal single-seat fighter at the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, a low-wing monoplane powered by a Hispano-Suiza 12Y engine and armed with a 20mm cannon and two wing-mounted machine guns. Though outclassed by German fighters during the Battle of France in 1940, captured examples were subsequently put to use by the Luftwaffe, including by Kampfgeschwader 200, a unit that specialized in operating captured Allied aircraft.
